Year 5's Brilliant Bridge Builders

In Design and Technology (DT), Year 5 has been busy exploring the exciting world of bridge building! Before getting started, the children investigated different types of bridges, including arch bridges and beam bridges, discussing what makes them strong and stable. Working in pairs, they took on the challenge of designing and building their own bridges using wooden lollipop sticks, straws, PVA glue and tape. The classroom was full of brilliant ideas, teamwork and problem-solving as the children experimented with different materials and brought their designs to life. They enjoyed testing their ideas, making adjustments and watching their bridges take shape. It was fantastic to see the children sharing ideas, supporting one another and taking pride in their finished creations. Year 5 had a wonderful time putting their engineering skills to the test and discovering that building a bridge takes teamwork, patience and plenty of imagination!
