Big Smiles, Bright Futures in Year 2

A big thank you to our NHS visitor, Amanpreet, for visiting Year 2 and teaching the children all about oral health! The children learnt how to brush their teeth correctly, which areas of their mouths to brush and why it is important to brush for two minutes, twice a day. Amanpreet also explained why we should spit out toothpaste rather than rinse with water, as the fluoride continues to protect our teeth. We also discovered how eating too many sugary treats can damage our teeth. The bacteria in our mouths feed on sugar and produce acid, which gradually breaks down tooth enamel and causes cavities. The children were excited to receive their own toothbrush and toothpaste to take home and practise their new skills! A reminder to all parents and carers: Please ensure your child is registered with a dentist and attends regular check-ups. NHS dental care is free for children under 18.
